Western North Carolina Nature Center

One of the primary objectives at the WNC Nature Center is to provide both children and adults with the opportunity to interact with and learn more about animals and plants in our environment, thereby increasing their appreciation and understanding of nature.

Red Wolf
Special interactive "Animal Moment" programs allow visitors to experience an animal enrichment activity and ask our staff questions about the animals.

See and learn more about bears, deer and cougars and pet a corn snake.
This outdoor program with an experienced guide will give students an opportunity to learn more about native wild animals as they tour animal habitats and visit the fox, raccoon, cougar, bobcat, coyote, and wolf habitats. The WNC Nature Center is one of only 46 facilities in the country participating in the Red Wolf re-introduction program.

Natural science concepts such as behavioral adaptations, food chains, communication and other survival techniques will be covered.
Open year round with indoor and outdoor exhibits, rain or shine.
